Do you suffer from seasonal allergies? Itchy eyes, running nose, constricted throat… You are not alone. Millions suffer. BUT, there is hope! Here is our story.
Three years ago my oldest son had red eyes that he was constantly itching. My first thought was, “Well, here we go. Pink eye!” I made up some concoction and started using it on him to no avail. Then, he got a rash. Red spots showed up mostly on his torso and they were dime sized. It was then that I remembered I thought we were doing the pink eye thing the year before at about the same time and I started wondering if maybe it could be allergies.
As I watched him, his eyes were more itchy after being outside but the rash was what was really odd to me. Our hay field was blooming, but I had never heard of a rash with hay fever. Turns out that some people do develop a rash with hay fever. So, I kept him inside until after the hay was cut, baled, and put up. Poor guy loves to be outside and keeping him indoors was almost like punishment.
When I figured out that it was allergies, I made up a roller bottle of Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint Essential Oils. ‘LLP’, this is the allergy combo that everyone raves about. I’d never had occasion to use it before so we were going to put it to the test. It helped. I would rub it behind his ears and run it in the diffuser non stop 24 hours a day 7 days a week. And it did help, but he still had red little eyes.
I’m a ‘WHY’ girl. WHY is this happening? What is the root cause? Etc. Allergies start in your gut. Your gut actually controls SO much of your body. If it is healthy, the rest is healthy. If it isn’t, the rest of your body isn’t.
So, the next year I started him on a digestive enzyme called Allerzyme. The name was telling. I honestly didn’t even research it, just began giving it to him in April to help combat what I knew was coming. I also made sure we had no shortage of Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint and away we went. The dosage is 3 capsules once a day. He was five though, so I only gave him 1 a day. Probiotics and enzymes are best given before bed so they have overnight to bind to the gut and start working. I also bought extra Life 9 Probiotics and gave him one of those in the evening as well.
I was concerned when I placed my order that he wouldn’t swallow a pill, but he is a trooper and it went down with no problems! He’s such a brave boy!
We were careful. He stopped helping irrigate when the hay started blooming, and if he was in the hay, we would have him change clothes shortly after. Between being careful outside, the enzymes, probiotics, and a roller bottle of LLP, we went last year with NO rash and a much more comfortable boy!
This year, I got a jump start on it! I started him on the enzyme in February so that it would have ample time to bind to his gut and start working on his behalf before the pollen started to fly. So far, no itchy eyes! Not even a trace of red! I’m so thankful for natural products that I can give my children that HELP them completely. It brings peace of mind that other options with a long list of side effects does not.
